SIG expands partnership with Nestlé

SIG has recent­ly expand­ed its long term glob­al part­ner­ship with Nestlé in anoth­er major growth mar­ket: Brazil. As a first step SIG has sup­plied a fill­ing machine for 500, 750 and 1,000 ml com­biblocMi­di car­ton packs, for Nestlé Brazil’s well-loved Moli­co and Nin­ho UHT milks.
Where­as, in the past, just a one litre pack­ag­ing for­mat would suf­fice for the retail shelf, today’s con­sumer in Brazil is look­ing for pack­ag­ing for­mats and vol­umes to help avoid food waste. Healthy dairy prod­ucts in pack vol­umes of less than 1,000 ml meet the lat­est con­sumer trends for mobil­i­ty, a healthy lifestyle and individualization.
With SIG’s flex­i­ble and effi­cient solu­tions, Nestlé Brazil sees itself well equipped to meet cur­rent require­ments. Its well-loved Moli­co and Nin­ho UHT milks have been pack­aged and mar­ket­ed in com­biblocMi­di since the start of this year. For this pur­pose, a SIG CFA 812 fill­ing machine with a capac­i­ty of 12,000 packs per hour is in oper­a­tion at the Nestlé plant in Caraz­in­ho (RS), bet­ter known as Nestlé Sul.

94% Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

Antoni­eta Hilst, Region­al Direc­tor at SIG South Amer­i­ca: “Many sys­tems would require two fill­ing machines to fill dif­fer­ent vol­umes but the SIG sys­tem enables the fill­ing of 3 dif­fer­ent vol­umes – 500, 750 and 1,000 ml – on the same machine, with very high lev­els of effi­cien­cy and a sim­pli­fied set up”.
The SIG CFA 812 fill­ing machine is now run­ning at 94% Over­all Equip­ment Effec­tive­ness (OEE).
Ansel­mo Nasci­men­to, Nestlé Sul Plant Man­ag­er said: “We have sur­passed our aver­age 58–60 hours’ pro­duc­tion time, reach­ing new cycle times of 72 hours. SIG’s line has also achieved excel­lence in terms of our qual­i­ty and stan­dards, espe­cial­ly with regard to food safe­ty, asep­tic val­i­da­tion, excel­lent OEE of 94% and an aver­age loss of less than 0.2%.”

Today’s bev­er­age man­u­fac­tur­er needs to meet the demands of today’s con­sumer with the right prod­uct and a pack­ag­ing con­cept that deliv­ers in terms of func­tion­al­i­ty and con­ve­nience. Already work­ing with Nestlé around the globe, SIG’s flex­i­ble fill­ing line is open­ing doors in Brazil to new bev­er­age occa­sions and pro­mot­ing excit­ing new busi­ness oppor­tu­ni­ties through prod­uct inno­va­tion and differentiation.
