LightCon postponed to early summer 2022

In prin­ci­ple, trade shows can be held again in the fall in view of the declin­ing Coro­na fig­ures. How­ev­er, in the view of the trade show orga­niz­ers in Han­nover, this applies pri­mar­i­ly to estab­lished trade shows that have already been staged for sev­er­al years. In order to stage a suc­cess­ful pre­miere event, oth­er frame­work con­di­tions are required that are not yet in place at the present time. The orga­niz­ers and the advi­so­ry board of the new cross-mate­r­i­al, cross-tech­nol­o­gy and cross-user con­fer­ence fair Light­Con have there­fore agreed to post­pone the start of the first event. The pre­miere is now planned for ear­ly sum­mer 2022.

Dis­cus­sions with our exhibitors and part­ners have shown that the mar­ket is ripe, but the Coro­na-relat­ed uncer­tain­ties must be tak­en into account. Nev­er­the­less, the orga­niz­ers firm­ly believe in the con­cept and the asso­ci­at­ed oppor­tu­ni­ties to bring the light­weight com­mu­ni­ty togeth­er at Light­Con 2022.

Not only the demand for light­weight prod­ucts, but also the sup­ply is devel­op­ing at high growth rates. Light­weight con­struc­tion tech­nolo­gies are cru­cial for the per­for­mance and com­pet­i­tive­ness of the econ­o­my, espe­cial­ly against the back­drop of the increas­ing impor­tance of ener­gy and resource effi­cien­cy. In par­tic­u­lar, mul­ti-mate­r­i­al light­weight con­struc­tion is pre­dict­ed to have a great future in the auto­mo­tive indus­try, aero­space, mechan­i­cal and plant engi­neer­ing, the con­struc­tion indus­try, but also in the med­ical sec­tor. In short, light­weight con­struc­tion is one of the most impor­tant growth mar­kets in the com­ing years and also offers good oppor­tu­ni­ties for small and medi­um-sized companies.

The trade fair is sup­port­ed, among oth­ers, by Com­pos­ites Unit­ed as a found­ing part­ner as well as the Ger­man Fed­er­al Min­istry of Eco­nom­ics, which invests large amounts of fund­ing in the top­ic of light­weight con­struc­tion in order to advance Ger­many in this area.
