Thermal bridge-free flat roof connection thanks to efficient prefabricated element

Opti­mize work process­es, min­i­mize ther­mal bridges and save time and mon­ey at the same time? That’s pos­si­ble with the new attic insu­la­tion from JOMA Dämm­stof­fw­erk GmbH. The inno­va­tion from the All­gäu-based qual­i­ty man­u­fac­tur­er con­sists of the inno­v­a­tive Air­Por insu­la­tion mate­r­i­al from JOMA, ensures a per­fect tran­si­tion from the facade to the flat roof and thus reduces geo­met­ric ther­mal bridges to a min­i­mum. At the same time, the new pre­fab­ri­cat­ed ele­ment can be installed by just one trade in a sin­gle oper­a­tion — mak­ing the exe­cu­tion of the flat roof con­nec­tion eas­i­er and safer than ever before.

Installation in a single operation 

In prac­tice, para­pets have so far usu­al­ly been formed in sev­er­al work steps: Either by means of wood­en planks or with con­crete. First of all, a con­crete upstand is required, after which the insu­la­tion is fit­ted in a time-con­sum­ing process. With the new inno­va­tion, these steps are now no longer nec­es­sary. This is because the new para­pet insu­la­tion arrives at the con­struc­tion site ready to use and adapt­ed to indi­vid­ual require­ments. On site, it is there­fore only glued and screwed into place. This means that only one trade is need­ed for instal­la­tion — the same crafts­man who applies the flat roof, for exam­ple, also installs the para­pet insu­la­tion. This saves time and money. 

The sys­tem com­po­nent of the All­gäu-based qual­i­ty man­u­fac­tur­er con­sists of the inno­v­a­tive insu­la­tion mate­r­i­al Air­Por and achieves the ther­mal con­duc­tiv­i­ty lev­el WLS 032. Air­Por con­sists of 98 per­cent air and is 100 per­cent recy­clable. Its demon­stra­bly high eco- and cost-effi­cien­cy and ease of han­dling make it a unique mate­r­i­al that is ver­sa­tile, water-repel­lent, age­ing-resis­tant, sta­ble and dimen­sion­al­ly stable. 

Insulation structures up to 50 cm high 

The new para­pet insu­la­tion is pre­fab­ri­cat­ed at the Holzgünz plant — and can also be cus­tomized to meet indi­vid­ual require­ments on request. It is then deliv­ered to the con­struc­tion site as a com­plete sys­tem. A basic and a top-up ele­ment are avail­able. With the basic ele­ment, a para­pet height of 25 cm is pos­si­ble; togeth­er with the addi­tion­al exten­sion ele­ment, this is up to 50 cm. In prac­tice, para­pet insu­la­tion offers fur­ther advan­tages: For exam­ple, it can be plas­tered on its out­er side and the slope on the upper side is also already fin­ished. A P7 board also serves here and on the inside of the sys­tem com­po­nent as a scre­w­able sub­strate for cov­er­ing and sealing.
