Pharmaceutical logistics — Company: Specialization and expansion

In 2002, the com­pa­ny Otto Kriegsch, found­ed in 1936, became part of the Pan­ther Group. Since then, the com­pa­ny’s core com­pe­ten­cies have been con­sis­tent­ly expand­ed by Pan­ther Dis­play GmbH & Co. KG have been con­sis­tent­ly expand­ed. With the relo­ca­tion of the com­pa­ny to Wuster­mark, in the imme­di­ate vicin­i­ty of the Wepo­ba Well­pap­pen­fab­rik, expan­sion took on rapid speed. Today, Pan­ther Dis­play is cel­e­brat­ing its 85th anniver­sary as a suc­cess­ful spe­cial­ist for PoS displays.

For some years now, the com­pa­ny has also been posi­tion­ing itself as a com­pe­tent ser­vice part­ner for the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal indus­try: thanks to its GMP (Good Man­u­fac­tur­ing Prac­tice) man­u­fac­tur­ing autho­riza­tion in accor­dance with Sec­tion 13 of the Ger­man Med­i­cines Act, Pan­ther Phar­ma Ser­vice ful­fills a wide range of require­ments. The ser­vice offer­ing is also avail­able for all oth­er indus­tries, such as the entire food industry.

Pan­ther Dis­play now stands for almost two decades of steady growth. The foun­da­tion stone for this was laid 85 years ago by the founders of the Otto Kriegsch com­pa­ny; since then, tech­no­log­i­cal devel­op­ment has been dri­ven for­ward under the umbrel­la of the Pan­ther Group. The suc­cess­ful devel­op­ment is deci­sive­ly sup­port­ed by, for exam­ple, the expan­sion and fur­ther qual­i­fi­ca­tion of the team, by exten­sive invest­ments in state-of-the-art pro­duc­tion facil­i­ties in line with the best pos­si­ble envi­ron­men­tal stan­dards. As part of the group, Pan­ther Dis­play is also a cli­mate-neu­tral company.

In 2008 (new Pan­ther Dis­play build­ing in Wuster­mark) and 2016 (dou­bling of the pro­duc­tion area), sig­nif­i­cant mile­stones for the com­pa­ny’s devel­op­ment occurred. In line with the ever-increas­ing qual­i­ty require­ments of Pan­ther Dis­play’s diverse cus­tomers, state-of-the-art high-per­for­mance machines (such as glu­ing tables, con­vert­ing sur­faces, press­ing belts and the instal­la­tion of a new flatbed die cut­ter) as well as well-trained and expe­ri­enced employ­ees in the man­u­al work, con­vert­ing and glu­ing depart­ments form the back­bone of pro­duc­tion. The expan­sion was dri­ven by the invest­ment in spe­cif­ic addi­tion­al equip­ment such as fold­ing machines for pack­age inserts, auto­mat­ic erect­ing as well as fill­ing sys­tems, mea­sur­ing and weigh­ing systems.

Spe­cial­iz­ing in unusu­al, brand-sup­port­ing and sales-pro­mot­ing prod­ucts, they ensure con­sumer acti­va­tion and the gen­er­a­tion of a will­ing­ness to buy in every retail envi­ron­ment. Indi­vid­ual devel­op­ments of mod­u­lar dis­play sys­tems go hand in hand with holis­tic approach­es to cre­ate a uni­ty of stan­dard and indi­vid­ual dis­play solu­tions for cus­tomers. To this end, Pan­ther Dis­play also draws on the strengths of the Pan­ther Group, where, depend­ing on cus­tomer require­ments, the opti­mum solu­tion is devel­oped across all sites, tak­ing into account eco­nom­ic and eco­log­i­cal aspects, such as the ide­al print­ing process (flexo direct print­ing or flexo preprint).

Thanks to effec­tive and high­ly flex­i­ble dis­play glu­ing machines and decades of expe­ri­ence in hand glu­ing process­es, attrac­tive and clever new dis­plays and dec­o­ra­tions are cre­at­ed for the PoS, for exam­ple, which offer addi­tion­al ben­e­fits for retail­ers and brand man­u­fac­tur­ers. Fold­ing tech­niques, plug-in con­nec­tions and adhe­sive solu­tions, such as those devel­oped at Pan­ther Dis­play, form the basis for easy assem­bly of even large-area displays.

At the same time, it is pos­si­ble to man­u­fac­ture PoS ele­ments from just one or two parts — Pan­ther Dis­play has been grant­ed patents and util­i­ty mod­el pro­tec­tion for a num­ber of unusu­al func­tion­al­i­ties. Even 85 years after the com­pa­ny was found­ed, Pan­ther Dis­play’s enthu­si­asm for new and fur­ther devel­op­ments remains unbro­ken.
