Optimization of sludge dewatering

Dur­ing the var­i­ous waste­water treat­ment process­es, sev­er­al thou­sand tons of sewage sludge are pro­duced in waste­water treat­ment plants every year. Since this must be dis­posed of at a charge via land­fill or incin­er­a­tion, attempts are made to pro­duce resid­ual sludge that is as dry as pos­si­ble. By pro­duc­ing and adding poly­mer solu­tion with the help of the dos­ing sys­tem DULCODOS ULIa from ProMi­nent, the accu­mu­lat­ing digest­ed sludge can be strong­ly dewa­tered. This saves costs for resid­ual sludge disposal.

The meter­ing sys­tem is a com­pact inline prepa­ra­tion sta­tion that process­es liq­uid poly­mers into a ful­ly acti­vat­ed solu­tion. With an inte­grat­ed mix­ing and matur­ing cham­ber and a meter­ing pump adapt­ed to the appli­ca­tion, it is designed for with­draw­al rates of 100 — 400 l/h at con­cen­tra­tions of 0.05 — 1% and a max. back pres­sure of 4.5 bar.

Depend­ing on the per­mis­si­ble back pres­sure, the meter­ing sys­tem is option­al­ly equipped with a peri­staltic, sole­noid or motor meter­ing pump. This meters the liq­uid poly­mer into a spe­cial mix­ing cham­ber, where opti­mal mix­ing with water pro­duces a mature and ful­ly acti­vat­ed poly­mer solu­tion with a mat­u­ra­tion time of 15min. Thanks to its com­pact design, the dis­pens­ing sys­tem saves space at the instal­la­tion site and offers var­i­ous instal­la­tion options.

The sys­tem offers a high degree of user-friend­li­ness thanks to an inte­grat­ed touch pan­el: this allows pro­por­tion­al meter­ing and option­al­ly the poly­mer prepa­ra­tion rate in l/h to be eas­i­ly set. The asso­ci­at­ed opti­mum process con­trol ensures safe and resource-sav­ing oper­a­tion. In addi­tion to sludge dewa­ter­ing and thick­en­ing, it is also used in indus­tri­al and munic­i­pal waste­water treat­ment as well as drink­ing water treatment.
