Gasket material of the future

The new gas­ket mate­r­i­al nova­press 880 fea­tures three times high­er adapt­abil­i­ty com­pared to con­ven­tion­al fiber gas­kets. This makes it pos­si­ble to use the gas­ket mate­r­i­al in reli­able TA Luft designs accord­ing to VDI 2290 and with increased instal­la­tion safety.
Gas­ket mate­ri­als must meet the high­est legal require­ments, which is why they are char­ac­ter­ized by excep­tion­al­ly good leak­age per­for­mance even with low sur­face pres­sure. How­ev­er, the design restric­tions placed on sur­face pres­sure in stan­dard­ized flange con­nec­tions make it more dif­fi­cult to com­ply with the statu­to­ry seal­ing cri­te­ria in prac­ti­cal imple­men­ta­tion. This is espe­cial­ly true in appli­ca­tions in the chem­i­cal indus­try where aggres­sive media need to be con­veyed that are rel­e­vant to TA Luft (Ger­man Clean Air Act).

Leakage performance thanks to 18% compression

The new gas­ket mate­r­i­al resolves this con­flict with sig­nif­i­cant­ly high­er adapt­abil­i­ty. With approx. 18% com­pres­sion, the mate­r­i­al offers val­ues around three times those of com­mer­cial­ly avail­able solu­tions and is thus able to com­pen­sate for flange uneven­ness even with low sur­face pressure.

Tight connection even with inner eyelet

Gas­kets with an inner eye­let are fre­quent­ly used in the process indus­try, which sig­nif­i­cant­ly increas­es the required min­i­mum sur­face pres­sure. The new gas­ket mate­r­i­al achieves this first-class leak­age per­for­mance even with an inner eye­let. This has to do with the fact that the inner eye­let mate­r­i­al – ide­al­ly made from 0.1 mm-thick stain­less steel – and the adapt­able nova­press 880 make a high­ly com­pact con­nec­tion, which deliv­ers near­ly iden­ti­cal seal­ing per­for­mance as a nova­press 880 gas­ket with­out an inner eyelet.

Process control system guarantees stable production

The new gas­ket mate­r­i­al is com­prised of approx. 20 dif­fer­ent com­po­nents that are bond­ed by an elas­tomer. The mate­r­i­al mix is built lay­er by lay­er in a high-pres­sure cal­en­der­ing process. The man­u­fac­tur­ing process ulti­mate­ly results in a homo­ge­neous prod­uct – an essen­tial pre­req­ui­site for effi­cient leak­age performance.
A pro­duc­tion con­trol sys­tem is respon­si­ble for process reli­a­bil­i­ty; Fren­zelit uses this same sys­tem in the pro­duc­tion of nova­press 880 gas­ket sheets. It guar­an­tees con­sis­tent qual­i­ty while ensur­ing com­plete man­age­ment, con­trol and mon­i­tor­ing of the for­mu­las, mix­ing process and cal­en­der­ing process.
