Green electricity production

At the Twist and West­eregeln sites, Wavin GmbH pro­duces 100 per­cent with green elec­tric­i­ty. The com­pa­ny has now received a cor­re­spond­ing cer­tifi­cate for the year 2022. This is fur­ther proof of the com­mit­ment of the plas­tic pipe spe­cial­ist from Twist, which has been ori­ent­ed towards sus­tain­abil­i­ty for many years.

The com­pa­ny can doc­u­ment its envi­ron­men­tal friend­li­ness and sus­tain­abil­i­ty: The com­pa­ny has just received a cli­mate cer­tifi­cate for the year 2022. This cer­ti­fies that the plas­tic pipe man­u­fac­tur­er uses green elec­tric­i­ty. To cov­er its needs, it pur­chas­es the TÜV Nord-cer­ti­fied “Natur­watt pro” elec­tric­i­ty from EWE Ver­trieb GmbH, which is gen­er­at­ed from 100 per­cent renew­able ener­gy sources. In this way, the Group is help­ing to avoid radioac­tive waste and pro­mote the expan­sion of renew­able ener­gies. The green elec­tric­i­ty, which is gen­er­at­ed entire­ly from Euro­pean hydropow­er, is CO2-neu­tral includ­ing upstream chain considerations.

As an inter­na­tion­al­ly active com­pa­ny with 45 pro­duc­tion sites in over 40 coun­tries, the com­pa­ny is very aware of the impact of its actions on the envi­ron­ment. Above and beyond the min­i­mum require­ments of legal reg­u­la­tions, it takes envi­ron­men­tal pro­tec­tion issues very seri­ous­ly, espe­cial­ly with regard to ener­gy use, ener­gy con­sump­tion and ener­gy effi­cien­cy through­out the entire devel­op­ment, pro­duc­tion and life cycle of a product.

Exemplary commitment to climate issues for decades

The com­pa­ny’s eco­log­i­cal­ly respon­si­ble com­mit­ment goes back decades: Since the 1990s, Wavin has been work­ing inten­sive­ly to ensure that no pro­duc­tion waste is gen­er­at­ed. All sur­plus mate­r­i­al is returned to the pro­duc­tion process so that it remains in the process chain. This pro­tects the envi­ron­ment and is an active con­tri­bu­tion to the com­pa­ny’s inter­nal sus­tain­able recy­cling pol­i­cy. But oth­er mea­sures also doc­u­ment an increased com­mit­ment to sus­tain­abil­i­ty and cli­mate issues. As ear­ly as ten years ago, Wavin equipped its pro­duc­tion plants with pho­to­voltaics and also relied on regen­er­a­tive­ly gen­er­at­ed elec­tric­i­ty for its purchasing.

Against this back­ground, the com­pa­ny has also set itself ambi­tious goals for the future. By 2025, it wants to become an indus­try leader in terms of sus­tain­abil­i­ty. In this con­text, the use of more recy­cled mate­ri­als and an improve­ment in the recy­cla­bil­i­ty of prod­ucts in line with the cir­cu­lar econ­o­my play just as impor­tant a role as the com­plete reduc­tion of land­fill waste and the expan­sion of solar mod­ules at a total of 15 sites.

The Twister com­pa­ny’s sys­tem solu­tions cre­ate sus­tain­able infra­struc­tures world­wide for sup­ply and dis­pos­al as well as for opti­miz­ing the indoor cli­mate. In order to be able to achieve more here glob­al­ly, Wavin is part of the Orbia group of com­pa­nies. The aim of this group of com­pa­nies is to com­bine solu­tions for glob­al chal­lenges in order to work for a future worth liv­ing for all peo­ple worldwide.
