Import of medical cannabis from Africa

The whole­saler DRAPALIN from Munich now has the first EU-GMP com­pli­ant med­ical cannabis strain from Africa in its port­fo­lio. The med­i­c­i­nal cannabis pro­duced in the land­locked South African coun­try of Lesotho is cur­rent­ly being import­ed exclu­sive­ly to Germany. 

Trans­paren­cy is a top pri­or­i­ty for the com­pa­ny. Detailed infor­ma­tion on the man­u­fac­tur­er, coun­try of ori­gin and pro­duc­tion process­es is made avail­able. After all, this is a herbal med­i­cine whose qual­i­ty is sig­nif­i­cant­ly influ­enced by the place where it grows, the cul­ti­va­tion con­di­tions and, not least, the phi­los­o­phy under­ly­ing its cultivation. 

For this rea­son, the Group is proud to have gained MG Health, a pro­fes­sion­al and reli­able pro­duc­er from Lesotho, as a part­ner. The com­pa­ny cul­ti­vates land at an alti­tude of 2000 meters, in a moun­tain­ous and pris­tine envi­ron­ment, com­plete­ly iso­lat­ed from any form of com­mer­cial­ized indus­try. Here you will find opti­mal con­di­tions for grow­ing med­i­c­i­nal cannabis: long sun­ny days, dry air and the purest water. 

With the sup­port of its part­ner, MG Health suc­ceed­ed in becom­ing the first African com­pa­ny ever to be rec­og­nized as a pro­duc­er of non-irra­di­at­ed med­ical cannabis accord­ing to EU GMP guide­lines in Ger­many. This also means that it has assured qual­i­ty and pro­duc­tion stan­dards in the field of stan­dard­ized med­i­c­i­nal plant cul­ti­va­tion — one of the pre­req­ui­sites for export­ing the prod­uct to Europe. 

All sides ben­e­fit from the part­ner­ship. MG Health was able to achieve numer­ous improve­ments for the local pop­u­la­tion on site in Marak­abei through its com­mit­ment. More than 400 jobs have been cre­at­ed and train­ing cen­ters and a library have been built at the com­pa­ny’s own expense, which has notice­ably increased the school com­ple­tion rate.
