Water and wastewater treatment operators are increasingly challenged to remove micropollutants from water. Compared with conventional wastewater treatment processes, which fail to remove the contaminants completely, oxidation with ozone has proved to be one of the most efficient methods available. Most industrial-scale ozone generators are fed with oxygen (O2) gas. However, only a small percentage of the gas is actually converted into ozone, with around 90% remaining unused.
As a expert in adsorption technologies, Linde has developed Ozora to increase the efficiency potential of the ozone process. Ozora enables up to 60% of the oxygen used for ozone generation to be recovered. This translates into significant savings – in particular for ozone flow rates in excess of around 20 kg/h. This technology has been jointly tested and validated with SUEZ, a manufacturer of ozone generators and a prominent player in the water treatment industry.
