Production of organic sheets at the Cham site

Ensinger’s port­fo­lio is being expand­ed in the field of ther­mo­plas­tic com­pos­ites. A dou­ble belt press (DBP) was recent­ly com­mis­sioned at the Cham pro­duc­tion site. The plant enables the effi­cient pro­duc­tion of a wide vari­ety of fiber-rein­forced ther­mo­plas­tic com­pos­ite mate­ri­als. These include, for exam­ple, organ­ic sheets, i.e. mul­ti­lay­er, ful­ly impreg­nat­ed and con­sol­i­dat­ed fiber-rein­forced composites. 

In addi­tion to the exist­ing prod­uct range for high-tem­per­a­ture appli­ca­tions, Ensinger can mass-pro­duce ther­mo­plas­tic com­pos­ites in high vol­umes at low­er tem­per­a­tures on the new machine. With a work­ing width of up to 1800 mm, the dou­ble belt press also process­es uni­di­rec­tion­al (UD) mate­ri­als, UD cross-ply mate­ri­als, lam­i­nates and sand­wich lam­i­nates with var­i­ous core mate­ri­als such as foam or honeycomb.

Var­i­ous com­bi­na­tions of tex­tiles and poly­mer matrix mate­ri­als, includ­ing car­bon, glass, aramid and nat­ur­al fibers, are fea­si­ble. Pow­der scat­ter­ing and film impreg­na­tion are pos­si­ble as impreg­na­tion tech­nolo­gies. The tai­lor-made tech­ni­cal and eco­nom­ic solu­tions are pre­des­tined for cus­tomer projects in the auto­mo­tive sec­tor and oth­er indus­tries. In addi­tion, Ensinger offers the pro­cess­ing of con­tract man­u­fac­tur­ing orders. 

With a poly­mer pow­der mill installed at the Cham branch plant, a prepreg plant and the new DBP, Ensinger has recent­ly invest­ed sev­er­al times in expand­ing its pro­duc­tion capac­i­ties. The prod­uct range now includes poly­mer pow­ders, con­tin­u­ous fiber-rein­forced semi-pregs and prepregs, organ­ic sheets as well as com­pres­sion mold­ed sheets and fin­ished parts made from a wide vari­ety of mate­r­i­al combinations.
